Gosport man guilty of having almost 80 indecent images of children - and more than 200 of a 'dead or alive' animal

A Gosport man has pleaded guilty to owning indecent images of children - and extreme pornographic images of an animal.

Appearing in court today, Leslie McMahon was charged with four counts of possessing indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children, and one count of extreme pornographic images portraying an act of intercourse with a dead or alive animal.

The 69-year-old, from Kingston Road in Gosport, wore a blue cardigan with blue shirt and baggy black trousers as he stood in the dock at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court, with his charges read out to him by District Judge David Robinson KC.

All in all, it tallied up to 79 images of children, and 220 images of an animal. McMahon pleaded guilty to all charges.

The court heard how the defendant had no previous convictions, but that a sexual harm prevention order was likely.

Addressing McMahon, Judge Robinson said: “You will receive credit for pleading guilty. We will need a pre-sentence report from the probation office, so I have to adjourn this case until July 1.

“You are released on bail. Because you have been convicted of these offences, you are required to comply wih the sex offenders’ register. You will have to go to the police station and give them your full name, address and identity documents.

“You have to tell the police if you stay at a place where somebody under the age of 18 lives, or if you intent to travel abroad.

“On July 1, you will either be sentenced here, or sent to the crown court for sentencing.”
