Gosport thief jailed for 16 weeks for stealing from woman with dementia in her own home

A THIEF who stole a dementia-suffering woman’s purse and cards has been jailed.

Emily O'Brien, 26, of Southway, Gosport, was handed a 16-week jail term by Portsmouth magistrates.

She went into the victim's house in Briarwood Close, Fareham, to take the cash.

‘She went into her house. The lady was a vulnerable person in her own home,’ the record added.

‘The offence is aggravated by previous convictions, including some for like offences.’

O'Brien was said to be remorseful but was jailed.

She admitted theft the October 24 theft and must pay a £128 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
