Police were dispatched at 3.52am yesterday after a car hit the central island of the Crossways, in Gosport.
The driver had left, but officers were able to find the vehicle’s registered keeper – a 36-year-old-woman – at an address nearby.
Police say the women was threatening towards responding officers, assaulting one of them.
In a tweet showing the crashed vehicle, Gosport police say an officer was spat at during the subsequent arrest.
The Gosport resident was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled Class B drug and common assault of an emergency worker.
A spokeswoman from Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘Once in police custody she provided a breath test, which was positive for alcohol.
‘She was also arrested for driving a motor vehicle when alcohol level is above the limit.’
The woman is still in police custody.
