Gosport woman arrested for drink-driving after car crashes into river in Delme roundabout in Fareham

A MOTORIST has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after a car crashed into a river.

The vehicle had to be fished out of the water at the Delme Roundabout in Fareham this morning following the accident overnight.

A 38-year-old woman from Gosport has been arrested and remains in custody.

A spokeswoman for Hampshire Constabulary added: ‘We were called at 2.50am today to reports of a collision on Wallington Way, after a Vauxhall Astra had crashed into the estuary at Delme Roundabout.

‘No injuries were reported. The driver, a 38-year-old woman from Gosport, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.

‘She remains in custody at this time. The vehicle was fully submerged, and was recovered this morning during low tide.’
