Hampshire man arrested following assault of two police officers

A HAMPSHIRE man has been arrested following the assault of two police officers.

The officers were responding to reports of a drunk man lying unconscious on Fawley Road in Hythe at 10.54pm on Sunday, September 27.

A statement from Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘Officers escorted the man to the side of the road where he became abusive and aggressive towards them and members of the public in the vicinity.

‘A 24-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of committing a public order offence.

‘He then assaulted two police officers as they attempted to engage with him and was subsequently further arrested on suspicion of assaulting emergency service workers.’

The man was later released under investigation.
