Havant man arrested for multiple offences including robbery, driving whilst disqualified and drug driving

A man has been arrested for a number of offences after a targeted stop by police in Hampshire.

Police officers pulled over a vehicle on Milton Road, Waterlooville on Monday, September 2 and arrested a 23-year-old man from Havant on suspicion of robbery, following an incident in Southsea on August 20. The stop led to further arrests including driving while disqualified and drug driving with another passenger also being arrested for theft.

A Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson said: “We received reports that just before 5:15pm on Tuesday, August 20, a man was robbed in the Southsea Rose Gardens and his credit card was stolen. The 23 year-old man from Havant was arrested on suspicion of robbery in relation to this offence and has been released on conditional bail until Monday, December 2.

“During the vehicle stop on Monday, September 2, the man was also arrested on suspicion of driving whilst disqualified and drug driving. He has been released under investigation in relation to these offences whilst enquiries continue.”

When officers searched the vehicle they also found £500 worth of groceries which led to him being arrested on suspicion of theft from a shop. He has since been released with no further action being taken regarding that offence.

The 23-year-old from Havant was also further arrested for a domestic incident that the police are unable to provide further information on at this time.
