Louise Smith: Police release CCTV image of missing Havant girl

POLICE looking for a missing teenager from Havant have released a CCTV image of her as they work to trace her movements before her disappearance.

Louise Smith, 16, vanished 11 days ago on VE Day and has not been in touch with her family since.

Now police have released a CCTV image of the missing teen, taken in Tesco Metro in Greywell Road, Leigh Park, shortly before 7.30pm on Thurday May 7.

The police are hoping to trace her movements in the 24 hours before her last sighting, with a member of the public seeing her in Somborne Drive, Havant, at midday on Friday 8 May.

Anyone in Leigh Park with CCTV footage from the day of her disappearance and the day before should save the data, according to Chief Inspector Alex Reading.

He said: ‘If you live in Leigh Park and have CCTV footage from Thursday, May 7 and Friday, May 8, please save it if this is possible, and do not delete it.

‘Officers are systematically working their way through the area making enquiries so would be keen to collect it from you when they reach you.

‘Alternatively, you can make contact us directly and we can arrange for an officer to attend to collect it and view it.

‘We are not expecting the public to view it all themselves to see if there is anything significant – you can leave that part to us. We are keen to secure as much CCTV footage as possible as part of enquiries.’

The police are continuing to appeal to Louise to contact the police or a loved one.

Chief Insp Reading said: ‘I would once again like to take this opportunity to appeal directly to Louise to make contact with us. Louise, please call us and let us know you are ok. We just want to know that you are safe.

‘If you feel you cannot call us, then please call a friend or a loved one – we need to know that you are ok.’

Louise is white, about 5ft 2in, slim, and has straight, black, shoulder-length hair.

She was last seen wearing black jeans, a black and white striped T-shirt, black trainers and a black coat with a fur hood on the day before she vanished.

As part of the investigation, a 29-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of kidnap. They have since been released on bail.
