Winchester Crown Court saw Shane Mays, 30, buying four pizzas at Iceland in the Greywell shopping precinct in Leigh Park hours after punching his wife’s niece to death.

He bought the frozen goods at about 4.42pm on May 8, shortly after killing Louise Smith at Havant Thicket sometime between 1pm and 3.11pm, the prosecution say.

At 4.59pm he enters Tesco, buying other items, the court heard. Two minutes later Louise’s phone disconnects from the network after her aunt Chazlynn Mays – the defendant’s husband – had repeatedly tried to call her to see where she was.

Mays returns home to his one-bedroom flat in Ringwood House, in Somborne Drive, one minute later at 5.02pm, CCTV shown to jurors reveals.

Cameras had earlier recorded Mays, wearing a red polo top on a sunny day, strolling through Well Meadow before cutting through onto Winterslow Drive and Middle Park Way at around 3.45pm.

At about 8.59pm Mays leaves the flat for 36 minutes, and said he is searching for his wife’s missing niece before returning at 9.35pm, jurors have been told.

Louise was reported missing at 6.32pm by CJ, and police were in contact with her before an officer arrived at Ringwood House at 1am on May 9.

Mays denies murder but has admitted the manslaughter of aspiring veterinary nurse Louise, who was found on May 21.
