Magistrates hand knifeman suspended prison term

A MAN who took a knife out in public has been spared jail.

Jack Needham, 21, of Sedgley Close, Southsea, had the blade in Durham Street on June 6.

At Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court, he pleaded guilty to having a knife in a public place.

He was given an eight-week sentence suspended for six months.

Needham was given a one-month curfew between 7pm and 6am.

He must pay a £115 victim surcharge.
