Man, 37, hit by Fiat Punto in brawl outside Southsea pub

A MAN was hit by a car in the middle of a brawl in a busy Southsea street.

The incident took place at around 10.45pm yesterday in Marmion Road, close to the Marmion pub, and is said to have involved ‘a number of people’.

A 37-year-old man suffered head and arm injuries and was taken to hospital after being hit by a Fiat Punto during the mayhem.

Detectives are investigating. A man has been arrested.

A statement from Hampshire police said: ‘A 37-year-old man was treated for injuries to his arm and head after he was assaulted and involved in a collision with a Fiat Punto.

‘A Mercedes was also damaged during the public order incident. The victim has since been discharged from hospital.’

A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and criminal damage. He remains in custody at this time.

Police are still conducting enquiries to establish what has happened.
