Man arrested over Alverstoke churchyard robbery

POLICE Officers in Gosport have arrested a man on suspicion of a robbery which took place in a churchyard Alverstoke.

The incident occurred at 9am on Wednesday February 5 in the grounds of St Mary’s Church.

A woman in her 60s was approached by a man who stole her phone and also tried to steal her handbag.

The police are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident and have urged anyone with information to call 101 and quote crime reference 44200044864.

Following his arrest a 31-year-old man from Gosport has been bailed until March 4 while Police make further enquiries.
