Man attacked in Leigh Park by two men wielding 'a knife and wooden truncheon'

TWO men have been charged following an assault which left a man with ‘minor injuries’ to his face.

Police were called to the incident in Greywell Road, in Leigh Park, on May 30 where it is alleged two men ‘carrying a knife and wooden truncheon’ assaulted a man.

A police spokesman said: ‘We were called at 4.26pm on May 30, where it is alleged that a man suffered minor injuries to his face when he was assaulted by two men carrying a knife and a wooden truncheon on Greywell Road.

‘Ricky Shields, 41, of Dunsbury Way, Leigh Park, and 38-year-old Steven John Dickson, of Osborn Road in Fareham, have been charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.’

They appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on Monday, and were remanded in custody to appear at Portsmouth Crown Court on June 29.
