Man charged with producing and possessing cannabis pleads not guilty in Portsmouth

A MAN who has been accused of possessing cannabis has pleaded not guilty in court.

Babatunde Akinrimisi, 25 of Park Avenue in East Ham, London, was charged with one count for possession of a controlled class B drug, and one count for producing a controlled class B drug – offences which both date back to March 29, 2018.

Appearing at Portsmouth Crown Court, he pleaded not guilty to both counts and will now stand trial in May.

The trial is due to start on May 26 and will run for two to three days, the court heard.

Addressing Akinrimisi, judge Roger Hetherington said: ‘You must serve a detailed offence statement with your answer to the allegations.

‘You will have the right to give evidence at the trial, but if you fail to attend it may continue in your absence.’

Akinrimisi will remain on bail until the date of the trial.
