Man denies Clanfield gunpoint robbery

A MAN has denied robbing a shop with a plastic handgun.

Anthony Journet, 46, appeared at Portsmouth Crown Court via videolink charged with robbery at the Co-op store in Clanfield on May 12.

He is also accused of having an imitation firearm, namely a plastic handgun, with intent to commit an indictable offence - a robbery - while having the imitation firearm.

Journet, of Botley Drive, Havant, spoke only to confirm his name and deny both charges against him.

He is due to stand trial in September.

Adjourning his case, judge Sarah Munro QC said: ‘I’m now going to adjourn your case for trial. Your trial will take place during the week commencing September 26.

‘Between now and your trial you will remain in custody.’

Journet was arrested after the Co-op store was robbed of cash and cigarettes.
