Man injured after silver Peugeot flips into woods off A32 near Fareham

A MAN escaped with minor injuries after his car flipped over and landed in woods.

Police were called to the A32 between Fareham and Knowle at 1.14am on Sunday after reports of a single-vehicle collision.

A silver Peugeot left the road and flipped on to its roof, coming to a halt in nearby woods.

A man suffered minor injuries and went to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham.

Officers have received a number of calls since the incident this morning but want to reassure the public that they are aware and it will be recovered.

A police spokesman said: ‘We can confirm that we were called out to an incident at 1.14am this morning (15 November) following reports of a single-vehicle collision on the A32 between Fareham and Knowle.

‘A silver Peugeot has left the road, entering a wooded area and rolled onto the roof.

‘A man presented to Queen Alexandra Hospital after suffering minor injuries.’

It comes after Hampshire Response Cops warned drivers about road conditions worsening in the rain.

A tweet thread read: ‘It is cats and dogs out there! Take care if you need to essential travel today, slow down and keep a safe distance.

‘Previous to my last tweet! Please slow down and watch for standing water. We are having numerous calls ref this car on the A32 between #Fareham and #Knowlevillage.

‘We are aware and will be recovered at a suitable time. Police aware stickers added. 23742.’

A yellow weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for authorities in the south east of England including, Portsmouth. Hampshire and Southampton.

A statement read: ‘Conditions across the south of England will turn windier this afternoon and early evening.

‘The windiest conditions will be in coastal areas where gales or severe gales are expected along with gusts of 50 to 60 mph for many and perhaps as high as 60 to 70 mph in a few spots.

‘Parts of southwest England are likely to see the highest winds during early to mid afternoon whilst peak winds over parts of southeast England will probably not be until later this afternoon and early evening.

‘Meanwhile, these high winds will be accompanied by further showers and spells of rain, heavy at times.’
