Man injured in knifepoint mugging as he walks through Leigh Park

A MAN was robbed at knifepoint as he had his wallet stolen.

It happened in Bedhampton Way in Leigh Park, near the junction with Colemore Square, between 8.30pm and 8.45pm on Friday.

The 29-year-old victim was approached from behind by a man he did not know.

A police spokeswoman said: ‘The man was carrying a knife which he used to threaten the victim with, before assaulting him and taking his wallet.’

The robber was white, in his late teens, 5ft 7in and slim, and wore a black hooded top and a black face mask. The victim said he spoke with a London accent.

The victim suffered a small cut to his neck and bruising to his face.

Police want to hear from anyone who was in or around Bedhampton Way at this time who saw anything. They have also asked drivers with dashcams and residents with private CCTV in the area to check their footage.
