Man wearing blue plastic gloves and balaclava who hit 16-year-old with bottle on Southsea Common is hunted by Hampshire police

A 16-year-old was hit with a bottle by a man on Southsea Common.

Police say the boy was approached by a man wearing black tracksuit bottoms, a top with the hood up, a black balaclava and blue plastic gloves.

It happened at about 9.30pm on Friday and the boy suffered an injury to his arm.

Police say the man was about 6ft and stocky.

A spokeswoman said: ‘We have conducted a number of enquiries but are now turning to the public for help. Were you in the area at the time? Did you witness the assault or see anything suspicious? Did you see anyone matching the description above?’

A dispersal order – which makes refusing to leave the area when told to by a police officer an arrestable offence – was brought in for Old Portsmouth and Southsea on Friday night and expired at 5.44pm on Easter Sunday. Police enacted it after reports of nuisance in the area.
