Meat cleaver seized and four people arrested after 'large' brawl at Southsea Common

According to Hampshire Constabulary, officers were called to the common at 6.09pm after reports of a fight between a large group of people, followed by reports of males trying to enter a property in Nightingale Road.
Officers also seized a meat cleaver and bottles from the scene.

Hide AdA 21-year-old man from Essex was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
Two 17-year-old boys from Portsmouth were both arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and possession of a psychoactive substance with intent to supply.
A 16-year-old boy, also from Portsmouth, was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and possession of a psychoactive substance with intent to supply.
All four are being kept in police custody.
Three boys were taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham after the brawl – though no serious injuries were reported.

Hide AdNeighbourhood Inspector Marcus Cator said: ‘This is a concerning incident and will have been witnessed by people legitimately using Southsea Common. An investigation is underway, and officers are following several lines of enquiry.
‘I’d also like to remind people that the regulations on public gatherings are still in place, meaning you cannot gather in groups with those that are not in your household. We would also urge that parents are aware of their children’s whereabouts during this time.’
Police will be patrolling Southsea Common over the weekend and will enforce government guidance if necessary.
