A MYSTERIOUS thief had second thoughts over their ill-gotten gains before returning stolen items from a Gosport shop.

But despite taking the risky move to hand back £57 worth of goods from Boots, in the High Street, the thief was warned they were still wanted by police.

In a post on social media, Gosport police made its position clear. ‘ITEMS RETURNED: Within the last hour, PCSO Ayres has retrieved stolen items, totalling £57,’ it said.

‘These have since been returned to the Boots store on the High Street. Enquiries are ongoing regarding the suspect and we will update in due course.’
