Paulsgrove man accused of '˜brutally' attacking friend appears in court
Jamie Denman, of Allayway Avenue, Paulsgrove appeared in front of magistrates at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court this morning.
The 36-year-old is charged with GBH with intent and making threats to kill.

Hide AdDenman, dressed in a grey jumper and jogging bottoms, spoke only to confirm his name, age and address.
The court heard how he attacked friend Mark Williams on Saturday morning.
Prosecutor Alicia Keen told the bench how Mr Williams had rushed to his friend’s flat, after Denman threatened to kill himself, and was assaulted.
Denman dislocated Mr Williams’ knee, knocking him down, before kicking him in the head and repeatedly stamping on his face.

Hide AdDenman also held a knife to his throat during the assault, Ms Keen said.
‘This was a particularly brutal attack of Mr Williams who prior to this was Mr Denman’s friend,’ said Ms Keen.
‘It was a situation that appears to have got very out of hand.
‘Mr Denman starts off by kicking Mr Williams in the left knee causing it to give way.

Hide Ad‘Then as Mr Williams is on the floor, Mr Denman kicked him in the head and kicked him in the face and held a knife to his throat.’
She added Mr Williams would need extensive medical treatment in the wake of the assault.
‘There is very serious injury done to Mr Williams as a result of this attack,’ she told magistrates.
The attack left Mr Williams with a bleed to the brain, fractured left eye socket and jaw. He is being treated at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham.
Denman, who was on licence for a previous offence at the time of the assault, was remanded in custody. He will appear at Portsmouth Crown Court on November 14.
