Pensioner, 80, hit by car on A27 as Hampshire police appeal for help in identifying her

HAMPSHIRE police are appealing for help to identify a pensioner with life-threatening injuries after she was hit by a car.

Police were called just after 7.30am today to a report of a collision involving a Ford Focus and pedestrian on the A27 Bassett Green Road in Southampton.

The pedestrian, a women believed to be around 80, has been taken to hospital and the road had to be closed while emergency services attended the incident.

A police spokesman said: ‘We are making enquiries to identify her and make contact with her next of kin and are appealing for assistance with this.

‘The woman is white and was wearing a three quarter length camel-style overcoat, with large black buttons on the front and black trim around the collar.

‘She also had on a long grey scarf, with tassels, and what are believed to have been loose fit blue cotton trousers.’

Anyone who recognises the description of her clothing and can help identify the woman, or if you witnessed the collision, should contact the police on 101 and quote incident 315 along with the date of November 6.
