Persistent thief banned from Fareham borough

A HABITUAL thief has been banned from a town after he was charged for a number of incidents.

James Vincent Durber has been banned from Fareham for nine months.

The 36-year-old, of no fixed abode, was arrested on June 26 in connection with a number of incidents in the Fareham area for which he was subsequently charged.

At Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on June 29, he pleaded guilty to stealing £84 worth of fragrances from Boots at Westbury Mall on June 19, stealing £212 worth of fragrances from Boots at Westbury Mall on June 21, stealing a bicycle worth £250 from West Street on June 21 and criminal damage after he damaged a CCTV camera in Windermere Avenue on June 22.

Appearing at court yesterday (July 29), he was handed a nine-month community order with a 10-day rehabilitation activity requirement, a nine-month exclusion order whereby he must not enter the borough of Fareham, and he was ordered to pay £200 compensation to the owner of the stolen bike.
