15-year-old arrested and e-bike seized after failing roadside drugs test in Fareham
A teenager has been arrested
An arrest has been made after a teenager failed a roadside drugs test after being pulled over.
Fareham police have posted on social media after “eagle eyed” officer, PC Andy, spotted an e-bike being ridden by a 15-year-old boy in Highlands Road.
A closer inspection revealed the bike possessed a throttle on the handlebars meaning it fell under the same legislation as a moped or motorcycle rather than a conventional electrically assisted pedal cycle.

The post said: “Unfortunately for the rider, the surprises didn't end there. They failed a roadside drugs test and were arrested before being taken into custody to provide an evidential blood sample.
“As for the bike? Its journey ended on the back of a recovery truck. It was seized and is likely destined for a one-way trip to the scrapyard. The moral of the story? Just because a bike has pedals doesn't necessarily make it a bicycle in the eyes of the law.”
The teenager was arrested on suspicion of driving/riding a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit, using a motor vehicle on a road/in a public place without third party insurance, and driving/riding with a license.
The police have confirmed he has been released under investigation whilst police enquiries continue.
