Man arrested for attempted murder following a stabbing in Southsea as police appeal for witnesses
A 42-year-old man was assaulted at an address on Victoria Road North and police have confirmed that during the incident the victim suffered a stab wound. He remains in hospital for treatment. His condition is described as stable and is not life threatening.
A 24-year-old man from Portsmouth has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in police custody.

Chief Inspector Sarah Nicholson, said: “While we are in the early stages of our investigation we believe there is no wider risk to the public.
“We understand incidents of this nature can be very worrying for the community and we want to reassure you that we will be conducting a thorough investigation.
“Officers will be in the area today carrying out enquiries. Anyone with any concerns can speak to one of these officers.”


Police remain at a Southsea address this morning (Sunday, June 29). The pavement of an area of Victoria Road North remains cordoned off and officers remain at the scene of a nearby house following the assault which led to the road’s temporary closure last night.

Hide AdThe road is now open in both directions, but the pavement remains cordoned off near to the zebra crossing at the top end of the road close to the junction with Montgomerie Road.
