POLICE were called to an ‘altercation’ that left seven people injured at a traveller site near Emsworth.

Officers and an ambulance crew attended the scene at Prior Leaze Lane at 9.40am today.

One person has been taken to hospital with serious head injuries and another six sustained minor injuries.

A spokesman from Sussex Police said: ‘Police were called to reports of an altercation.

‘One person was seriously injured and has been taken to hospital with a head injury.

‘A further six people sustained minor injuries.

‘An investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident is under way. The group of people are believed to be known to one another and this is being treated as an isolated event.’

Anyone with information about the incident are asked to call 101, quoting Operation Goldwell.
