A woman died in a horrific incident in a Gosport carpark
The public and emergency responders have been praised for their help with a heartbreaking incident where an 88-year-old woman died in a supermarket carpark.
The woman died following the including just after midday on August 21 in which a grey Kia Soul collided with two pedestrians and several other parked and moving vehicles in the Morrisons car park on Walpole Road in Gosport.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and a second pedestrian suffered minor injuries.
Hampshire Police said it would like to speak to any witnesses and anyone with relevant dash cam footage as it continues its investigation, adding that “further speculation on social media serves no purpose”.

In a statement, Gosport Police has also thanked “some of the people who helped where they could, in a quiet and purposeful way”.
A police spokesperson said: “First and foremost the staff of Morrisons, including the security guy, who were already conducting CPR and on the phone to ambulance when I arrived, they were amazing from start to finish.
“An off-duty paramedic, on maternity leave, was an early arrival and she took control in a way that let us know we were in very capable hands.
“A First Responder arrived having been alerted by the Good Sam system, well worth a look if you think it might be for you - GoodSAM: The Emergency Response and Dispatch Platform
“Ambulances arrived and tended to the lady and others that had been injured.

“A short while later the Air Ambulance Team arrived with their ‘top drawer’ set of skills, alongside Traffic officers (including a Forensic Crash Investigation Unit officer) who took over the scene as specialists in this type of incident.
“In turn, because of the secondary risk of damaged cars combusting, local fire officers attended to ensure the wider safety of the public and those working on the scene.
“Sadly, despite everyone’s efforts, the lady was pronounced dead at the scene and an undertaker was called.
“There were many other members of the public that stepped forward to simply hold a screen or stop additional vehicles coming into the car park. This is a rare event for Gosport but I know it will have an impact for years to come. It is important to reflect and ask for help if you were affected by what happened on the day.
“If you have any dash cam footage or you saw what happened but have not given us your details yet, please call 101 and give the reference number 44260407128.”
