Police hunt arsonists behind spree of Buckland bin fires

POLICE are hunting arson suspects behind a spree of bins fires throughout the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Fire crews ended up putting out seven bin fires in Buckland, thought to have been started by teenagers.

Police and firefighters from Southsea attended the first blaze at 1.55am on Winchester Road.

Shortly afterwards, they attended a bin fire on Arnaud Close, two bin fires on Seymour Close, a bin fire on Kilmiston Close and a bin fire on Lake Road.

At 6.22am, the emergency services were called to another bin fire at the junction of Kilmiston Close and Hanway Road.

‘Our colleagues from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service dealt with the fires,’ a police spokeswoman said.

‘We are investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the cause of the fires, which are currently being treated as arson.
