Police hunt hit-and-run Renault Megane driver who slammed into a cyclist in Fareham

A CYCLIST has been left injured after a hit-and-run driver ploughed into him.

The male victim was struck shortly after 8.30am while riding in Redlands Lane, Fareham.

Police said the cyclist suffered ‘minor injuries' and The News understands the man has been treated by medics at Gosport War Memorial Hospital.

Hampshire Constabulary said they arrived at the scene of the collision at 8.56am but that the driver had failed to stop.

The force has now launched an investigation to track down the culprit.

A police spokesman said: ‘The car, described as a grey or silver Renault Megane, did not stop at the scene.

‘The cyclist suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision.

‘Enquiries are ongoing.’
