Police investigate cats being shot with air rifles in Gosport

Police are investigating a series of attacks where cats have been wounded by what appear to be air rifle pellets.

The shootings have been taking place in the Hardway area, and cat owners are advised to keep their pets indoors.

A spokesman from Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘We can confirm that an incident was reported to police at 1.36pm on Wednesday, March 10 after a cat was attacked with possibly an air riffle near to San Diego Road in Gosport. The cat received minor injuries.

‘There have been a number of incidents whereby other cats have been attacked, which have occurred near to the same address, between Wednesday, February 3 and Wednesday, March 10.’

Anyone with information about the attacks is asked to call 101, quoting the crime reference number 44210089410.
