Police name woman, 29, charged over spate of Portsmouth supermarket thefts

Police investigating shoplifting in Portsmouth after working with shops have charged Rosie Marsh, 29, of no fixed address, with five shoplifting offences between July 16 and November 11.

Marsh is accused of stealing meat worth £28 from the Co-op store on Fawcett Road, Portsmouth, on July 16.

At the Co-op on Winter Road, Southsea, she allegedly took groceries worth £57 on September 12.

Police said up to £30 worth of meat products were stolen from the Co-op store on Great Southsea Street, Southsea, on September 19.

On September 28, Marsh is accused of stealing gammon steaks worth £17 from the Co-op store on Elm Grove, Southsea.

And on November 11, chocolate worth approximately £110 was allegedly stolen by Marsh from Sainsburys on Albert Road, Southsea.

Marsh has been remanded on bail and will appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on Monday December 21.

The investigation formed part of Operation Monster, which sees officers in Portsmouth work with businesses to tackle aggravated shoplifting and other offences against them.
