Officers are at Southsea Common off Clarence Parade near Ladies Mile – opposite the Pyramids Centre.

Larissa Schlafli said her husband saw the police inspecting the area first thing this morning.

She said: ‘At 5.30am my partner went running and he saw several police guarding the area.

‘By the bushes next to the roundabout policemen were taking photographs and inspecting.

‘At 7.10am I went out to go to work.

‘When I drove past there were two police cars only left and a small area all taped up, another police car arrived again.’

Hampshire Constabulary has been contacted by The News for further information.
