Police sergeant dismissed over '˜sexually inappropriate behaviour'

A POLICE sergeant has been dismissed after repeatedly using sexually inappropriate behaviour towards female staff under his supervision.

Sgt Alex Wade was found guilty of gross misconduct at a misconduct hearing last week and dismissed without notice, a Hampshire police statement said.

He did not attend the panel, where he was accused of two misconduct charges.

They arose from his alleged habitual use of inappropriate language, and him repeatedly exhibiting inappropriate sexualised behaviour towards female member of staff under his supervision.

Hampshire police said the panel, made up of chair Gabrielle Jan Posner, Assistant Chief Constable David Pryde and Peter Baston, found the allegations proven.

A statement said he breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour for Police Officers under both authority, respect and courtesy, and discreditable conduct.

The hearing was held on April 13.

A statement said: ‘Sergeant 23014 Alex Wade was found guilty of gross misconduct and dismissed from Hampshire Constabulary without notice.’

Sgt Wade had been based in Southampton with Hampshire police.
