Portsmouth city centre roads closed off after dead man found on the street

Emergency services were called to the scene on Charlotte Street, beside the Cascades Shopping Centre, after members of the public raised the alarm.

A police spokesperson said: ‘Officers were called at 3.26pm this afternoon (Monday, 12 December) to reports of a body of a man on the pavement of Charlotte Street.

‘Police are in attendance at the scene.’

Police were unable to confirm the circumstances leading up to the man’s death, but the spokesperson added: ‘The death is not being treated as suspicious at this stage. A file is being prepared for the coroner.’

Unicorn Road and Stanhope Road were also closed while emergency services responded to the incident.
