Timothy Thornton, 45, of Sea Front, Hayling Island, admitted two charges of assault by beating on January 7 and November 29.

One assault was at his home, and the other was in Sainsbury's Broadcut.

Magistrates imposed a 12-month community order with 20 days' rehabilitation activities and 80 hours' unpaid work.

He also admitted coercive control between October 1 and January 7.

Samuel Smith, 29, of Montague Road, North End, admitted having an offensive weapon, a steak knife, on the Isle of Wight on January 12.

He admitted stealing the knife and a fork from a woman on the same day.

Magistrates imposed a 12-month community order with 15 days' rehabilitation activities.

Smith was fined £500 with a £90 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs.

Shaun Higginson, 46, of no fixed address, admitted causing harassment, alarm or distress on January 22 in Commercial Road, Portsmouth.

He also admitted breaching a conditional discharge handed to him for using threatening behaviour.

He was fined £120, detained in court and told to pay a £32 victim surcharge.

Hayley Curtis, 38, of Nessus Street, Portsmouth, admitted assault by beating on September 30 in Portsmouth.

Magistrates imposed a 12-month community order with 20 days' rehabilitation activities.

She must pay £400 compensation.

Samuel Taylor, 35, of Twyford Road, Eastleigh, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm on February 2 at Gunwharf Quays.

Magistrates imposed a 26-week jail term suspended for a year.

He was drunk, headbutted his partner and she needed several stitches to her eye.

The term was suspended as the attack was out of character and he has shown remorse, and does not have relevant previous convictions.

He must complete 15 days' rehabilitation activities and 150 hours' unpaid work.

He must pay £200 compensation.

A restraining order bans him from attending an address in Fareham for a year.

He must pay a £122 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
