Portsmouth man, 54, jailed for ‘defecating himself in police station’ and spitting

Stephen Morton, 44, of Cornwallis Crescent, Landport, admitted jointly stealing £50 worth of chocolate from Tesco in Albert Road in Southsea.

Magistrates fined him £50.

Philip Wood, 54, of Samuel Road, Fratton, admitted assault by beating on July 21 in Tesco, Solent Road, Havant.

He admitted using threatening or abusive words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour on August 4, and twice on July 30.

He also admitted behaving in an indecent manner in a police station by being constantly abusive, spitting and defecating himself.

The charge said he ‘generally acted in a vile and disgusting manner’ in Portsmouth police station on August 5.

He admitted assaulting a man on August 6 in Portsmouth, and damaging a perspex screen.

Wood admitted flouting a suspended sentence.

He was jailed for 26 weeks for a ‘pattern of serious behaviour displayed by the defendant over a period of time, previous convictions of a like nature, defendant spat at people during Covid pandemic’.

An order was made to ban Wood from going to the Ferryboat Inn on Hayling Island. The restraining order lasts for a year.

Daniel Hammond, 32, of Warwick Crescent, Southsea, admitted two charges of damaging vehicles on July 21 in Waterlooville.

Magistrates ordered him to pay £1,020 compensation.

Amy Wrixon, 35, of Dore Avenue, Fareham, admitted having a kitchen knife in House Farm Road, Gosport, on July 14.

Magistrates imposed a two-year community order with 10 days' rehabilitation activities, and 100 hours' unpaid work.

Magistrates imposed a £95 surcharge and £85 costs.

An order was made to destroy the knife.

Marshall Munetsi, 37, of Emanuel Street, Buckland, admitted failing to provide a specimen of breath on May 21 in Havant.

He was banned from driving for three years with an £85 surcharge and £85 costs.

Richard Penn, 63, of Windsor Crescent, Chard in Somerset, admitted drink-driving in Marketway, Landport, on July 24.

A breath test revealed he had 120 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The limit is 35.

Magistrates banned him for 29 months with a 12-month community order and electronic curfew for 12 weeks.

He must complete 15 days' rehabilitation activities and pay a £95 victim surcharge.
