Portsmouth man accused of raping woman, 19, set to go on trial in May next year

A MAN accused of rape is set to go on trial next year.

Muhib Uddin, 31, of Newcomen Road in Stamshaw, Portsmouth, appeared at Portsmouth Crown Court after being charged with raping a teenager in Southsea.

Uddin is accused of raping the 19-year-old woman on August 29 in an alleyway off Clarendon Road.

No plea was entered during the court appearance with the case adjourned until October 20 to ensure a translator is present.

Uddin’s trial date has now been set for May 17 next year.

Police said the victim has been receiving support from specialist officers.

Three previously arrested men, 20, 25 and 37, all from Portsmouth, will face no action.
