Portsmouth man charged with 10 shoplifting offences

A MAN accused of a string of shoplifting offences has been named by police.

Johnny Kerridge, 37 of Kingston Crescent, Portsmouth, has been charged with 10 shoplifting offences that took place between Friday, August 14 and Sunday, October 4.

These include thefts from Co-op stores across the city, plus the Sainsbury’s Local in Albert Road and the One Stop in Chichester Road.

The total value of the goods stolen is estimated to be around £,1,186.

A spokeswoman from Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘The investigation was part of Operation Monster, which sees local officers in Portsmouth work with local businesses to tackle aggravated shoplifting and other offences against them.

‘Kerridge has been remanded in custody.’

The 37-year-old will appear at Portsmouth Crown Court on Friday, November 20.
