Portsmouth man Muhib Uddin charged with rape of woman in Southsea alleyway

DETECTIVES investigating the rape of a woman have charged a man.

The assault happened in an alleyway off Clarendon Road in Southsea at around 10pm on Saturday.

Muhib Uddin of Newcomen Road in Portsmouth has been charged with rape.

The 31-year-old has been remanded to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates Court today.

The victim, who is 19, continues to receive support from specialist officers.

Three men aged 20, 25, and 37 who were arrested as part of the investigation into the rape have been released without charge, and will face no further action.

Witnesses reported hearing screams and rushed to the scene to find the teenager on the ground crying.

Police set up a crime scene in Clarendon Road over the weekend and the cordon in place for most of Sunday as officers - and forensic experts - combed the area for clues.
