William Verbeeten, 27, of Kings Road, Southsea, admitted having an offensive weapon, a knuckle duster, in Station Street on July 30.
Magistrates imposed an 18-month conditional discharge with a £22 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
An order was made to destroy the weapon.

Bahram Mradian, 35, of London Road, Hilsea, admitted drink-driving on the A27 slip road to Eastern Road in Portsmouth on June 20 last year.
A breath test revealed he had 108 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Craig must pay £1,600 compensation, a £128 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
