Portsmouth motorist arrested after man dies in crash involving lorry and three vehicles

The incident took place on the M271 in Southampton on Tuesday and involved a lorry and three other vehicles.

A man in his 60s was pronounced dead at the scene near Junction 1, despite efforts from emergency services including South Central Ambulance Service and Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service.

The crash involved a lorry, Nissan Navara, Mercedes Vito van and Renault Relay van.

Hampshire police are continuing with their probe into the collision and have announced that a 32-year-old man from Portsmouth had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He has since been released under investigation.

Police are still appealing for any witnesses, or anyone who may have dash cam footage from area, to get in touch as they may be able to assist.
