Portsmouth Muslim activist condemns Westminster terror attack

Sumel Chowdhury, from North End, spoke out after a man drove a car into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge and attacked a policeman with a knife.

Scotland Yard has said it is treating the attack as a ‘terrorist incident’.

Sumel, 36, said: ‘It’s completely wrong, and as a community we give our condolences to the victim’s families.

‘This goes against our way of life and we condemn it. We would like to see justice done to the people who are involved in this.

‘These people should not be labelled with a religion or race. We should fight with unity against them. We should treat them as evil terrorists.

‘My prayers are affected by what happened yesterday, especially the brave police officers. I believe no kind of terrorist activity should divide us.’
