Portsmouth police who saved three-year-old boy's life handed award

PCs Shaun Brennan and Linda Davies, response officers based at Cosham, rushed towards at an incident in July last year.

The pair arrived to see the boy in cardiac arrest and his father desperately attempting to give CPR.

The officers took over and continued until paramedics arrived. Finally, the boy took a breath, saving his life.

Now both PCs have been handed the Royal Humane Society’s resuscitation certificate.

A Hampshire police spokeswoman said: ‘PC Davies did the chest compressions and PC Brennan held the child’s head in the right position to ensure an open airway.

‘Both officers have been awarded the RHS Resuscitation Certificate.’

They were given the certificates at the chief constable’s awards ceremony at Netley on Friday afternoon.

‘The ceremony was also a chance to celebrate the bravery of officers and members of the public who have been recognised by the Royal Humane Society,’ the spokeswoman added.

The RHS certificate is awarded by the society to people who save someone who is ‘seemingly dead’.
