Portsmouth speeding car crashes head-on into Speedy Pizza delivery vehicle in Southsea police chase

A SPEEDING driver fled after crashing head-on into a delivery driver’s vehicle in a police chase, officers have confirmed.

The Speedy Pizza delivery driver suffered minor injuries in the incident at around 10.38am in Southsea, police said.

An officer on routine patrol spotted a black Ford Focus driving over the speed limit in Highland Road, with the officer trying to stop it after a check found it had no insurance.

Police chased it with blue lights on in a bid to stop the car after turning into Rochester Road, Southsea.

But the black Ford did not stop and sped up , turning into St Augustine Road where it was then ‘involved in a head-on collision with a red Ford Fiesta’.

A Hampshire police spokeswoman said: ‘No other injuries were reported.

‘The driver of the Focus had left the vehicle by the time the officer got to the car.

‘An investigation into this incident is under way - no arrests have been made at this time.’
