Portsmouth store worker threatened with syringes after stopping shoplifter

A SHOP worker was threatened with two syringes after springing into action challenging a shoplifter.

The unnamed worker at Spar in St James's Road in Southsea was faced with the terrifying threat after stopping a man who stole steak from the shop.

When the suspected shoplifter was challenged he dropped the groceries and pulled out the two syringes.

He fled with two steaks and a second man scooped up the dropped items on the floor.

Now Hampshire police are appealing for help identifying two men caught on CCTV at the shop on Tuesday, May 5.

Both men are white and around 5ft 10in.

One man is in his late 40s, has fair hair with a side parting, a short beard and was wearing a blue jacket.

The other man was in his 20s, and had a top knot, a long beard and was wearing a tracksuit.

A police spokesman said: 'If you know these men, or saw them in the area at this time, please get in touch.

‘Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting 44200159270.’
