Robbers smash glass bottle over woman's head in Leigh Park attack

TWO violent thieves smashed a glass bottle over a woman's head and snatched her handbag.

The attack in Keyhaven Drive, Leigh Park, happened when the 37-year-old victim went to get her bag from a car outside a house at around 9.32pm on Saturday.

Police said the men approached her, grabbed hold of her and demanded she hand over the bag.

The thugs then smashed the bottle over her head, leaving her with a cut needing hospital treatment.

They fled with the long-strapped small leather black bag containing a purse and bank cards.

A Hampshire police spokesman said: ‘We are making enquiries and would like to hear from anyone who saw this incident to contact us.

‘Anyone with information on what took place should call police on 101, quoting the reference number 44200353508.

‘Alternatively, people can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.’
