Shoplifter spared prison after 6 thefts in Fareham and Gosport

The 35-year-old, of Solebay Road, Gosport, admitted a string of crimes at Portsmouth Magistrates' Court.

On April 25 at Asda in Speedfields Park, Fareham, he took a £119.96 Hoover.

On May 9 at Tesco in Gosport he took £69.50 worth of goods.

On May 17 and 21 he stole food from Spar and Tesco in Gosport. The goods from Tesco were worth £70.89.

On July 17 he took two sets of headphones worth £40 from Tesco, and six days later struck at Co-op taking £31.20 worth of meat.

Portsmouth magistrates imposed a 16-week jail term suspended for six months.

He must pay a £122 victim surcharge.

He admitted all six shoplifting offences.

Magistrates took his pleas into account when he was sentenced.

As reported in April, Cruickshank was previously jailed for stealing toys.

He appeared at court over a videolink.
