Southsea house parties shut down over Covid-19 breaches as five people are fined

Officers discovered more than 15 people in a flat in Waverley Road after being called at 10.35pm on Friday, October 16.
Around 20 people were in a garden in Jessie Road, 20 people in a house in Brougham Road, and 25 people in a property in Montgomerie Road.
They were all dispersed over the next four hours.

Hide AdA 19-year-old woman was reported for an offence in relation to the 11.26pm Jessie Road house party on Friday.
A man, 27, was reported in relation to the Waverley Road incident.
Two women, 19 and 20, were reported over the 12.27am Brougham Road incident on Saturday.
And a 22-year-old man was reported for the 1.30am Montgomerie Road party on Saturday.

Hide AdIt comes as deputy chief constable Sara Glen hit out at ‘really foolish’ people having house parties.
A post on the Portsmouth Police Facebook page added: ‘Team Southsea continues to encourage and support our communities to comply with the Covid Act to keep everyone as safe as possible.
‘Our communities continue to suffer the devastating impacts of this pandemic and our teams will not let the national effort down. We all know the rules and have a moral duty to support each other.
‘Unfortunately… there are those amongst us that continue to show a blatant disregard for the safety of our community.
‘We should all know the rules by now.

It comes as the rate of infection within Portsmouth continues to be the highest in Hampshire, with 134.9 cases per 100,000 people as of the latest update.
