Southsea man arrested following collision between elderly man and cyclist in a top hat

POLICE have arrested a man in connection with an incident involving a cyclist in a top hat and an elderly man in Southsea.

Yesterday officers attended Western Parade at 4.20pm in order to arrest a 60-year-old man from Southsea on suspicion of wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.

It follows an incident in Elm Grove on Sunday, March 14.

An elderly man was involved in a collision with a cyclist - described as being a man of large build, wearing a top hat – who did not stop to check on the man and verbally abused him as he cycled away.

The pensioner sustained several injuries, including fractures to his hand, wrist, and arm.

The man arrested yesterday has now been released under investigation, according to a spokeswoman from Hampshire Constabulary.
