Teenager accused of murdering his mother in Hambledon named for first time

Rowan Thompson, 18, is due to go on trial at Winchester Crown Court on October 2.
He is charged with the murder of his mother Joanna Thompson, 50, who died last summer.

Hide AdHer body was found in Hambledon, at 12.40pm on Monday, July 1 last year.
A post-mortem examination found she died due to neck injuries, police previously said.
The teenager was not present at the hearing.
An order banning his identification lapsed as he turned 18 this month.
No pleas have been entered.
A two-week trial is due to take place from October 2.
Judge Susan Evans QC adjourned the case until August 21 for a hearing.

Hide AdA woman who knew Mrs Thompson previously said: ‘She was such a lovely lady.
‘She was beautiful on the inside and out.’
A nearby resident previously said: ‘Her parents must be absolutely devastated and my heart really does go out to them – she was a lovely woman.
‘It’s absolutely heartbreaking.’
