Thieves smash into vehicles parked at leisure centres

OPPORTUNISTIC thieves are smashing into people's cars and stealing valuables, police have warned.

A spate of vehicle break-ins has blighted a number of leisure sites across the north of Portsmouth.

The spree has seen vehicles parked in car parks at the Mountbatten Centre, in Alexandra Park, Nuffield Health, in Hilsea, and the Hilsea Lido being hit, with windows being smashed.

Police are now urging people to keep their valuables locked up and not on display in their cars.

They are also appealing for witnesses to the crimes or those who may live nearby with private CCTV, to call them on 101 or on Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
